Breastfeeding support

Breastfeeding isn’t always easy, and for many mums it can start out as a real challenge, so that’s why we are expanding our community breastfeeding support team to offer more information and practical help when you need it most.

Our trained peer supporters are mums who understand. They have breastfed their children and overcome hurdles and now want to help other mothers and babies do the same.

Email to receive information on how to access our weekly support groups. We also provide home visits, online, video call and telephone support.

As you grow in confidence, you could even train to become a peer supporter too. If this appeals to you now please contact us using the email address above.

Healthy cooking

Healthy cooking on a budget

Providing a healthy diet for children can be difficult, especially when money is tight. This free, four-week course will teach you new cooking skills and recipes to share with your family.

Learn how to plan meals to make your money go further, and make kid-friendly dishes that the whole family will enjoy. You will also find ideas to get the kids involved in cooking, and set up healthy habits to last a lifetime.

Limited creche spaces are available so booking is essential. Register your interest with

In your school or nursery

Infant schools, pre-schools and nurseries in Daventry have the chance to train in RealPlay, a fun and engaging programme which supports families through the power of play.

Once staff have been trained your child’s school or nursery might invite you to join the club for play sessions where you and your child can learn to play actively together. Ask your school or nursery if they offer RealPlay, and if they don’t, why not ask them to sign up?

Childcare workers in Daventry are also being offered a healthy eating training session to teach them how to interest children in healthy eating habits.

You may also be offered the chance to come along to a drop-in session so you can ask any questions you’ve got about fussy eating, healthy habits or weight management – whatever is on your mind.
